The Department of English was introduced in the academic year 2012-2013. Since then, with greater responsibility, the department is disseminating English language and Literature. As competency in the English Language is mandatory in this globalized era, the department offers Spoken English Courses and conducts workshops to improve students’ language skills. To encourage the creative writing of the students, the department has launched a web blog https://ssbwritersavenue.wordpress.com. The department is appreciably taking part in Competitive Coaching Classes. The English Literary Association of the Department organizes academic meetings, guest lectures, and literary programmes periodically. Students are taught with well-equipped smart class.
programme Outcome
Able to engage effectively in demonstrate familiarity with a wide range of representative literary and rhetorical texts, including influential criticism of and commentary on those texts, examine the theoretical premises underlying the critical analysis of literature, rhetoric and/or the teaching of reading and writing, analyze the functions of texts and their relations with historical, social and political contexts, analyze how purpose, style and genre function in texts to achieve particular literary, rhetorical and aesthetic effects and prepare and deliver effective oral presentations and arguments. Thus both written and oral presentation are motivated and augmented.
